Our Cows
These are the females we are building our Naturalean Herd with. So far, our entire herd originates from two females, "Number One" and "Tiger". We got lucky and our first two females were/are pretty rock solid. There's a lot of variety in here, but a few things remain consistent. We are selecting our replacements based off high fertility, correct udders, and good feet. Followed by progeny performance from start to finish. ALL retained females born 2024 or later are A.I or E.T born calves. Even as a small herd, we are NOT afraid to cull a possible replacement or cow that is not performing. Because of our size, we can very easily keep track of an animals performance and select the traits that move the breed forward.

Our First Piedmontese Cow, thus her name. Not fancy, and certainly not the biggest framed cow you will find, but she's so long bodied you'd think she'd have an extra rib or two. Not the most beautiful bag either, but she is an absolute milk machine, weaning heavy calves and producing daughters better than herself. Incredibly fertile, this cow has caught via T.A.I 30 days post calving, just because we wanted to move our calving dates around. Amazing foot structure, very friendly disposition. "One" is a cow we have happily built a herd around.

New to us in 2026 and bred by Johannah Nielsen. This black cow beat the odds and has been DNA verified with 1 copy of the CY313 myostatin gene, while only being 25% Piedmontese.. Her dam, "Lilly" was a Holstein/Simital cross and 4-H show cow for my sister-in-law. Legend has it that Lilly was "oops" bred by a Hereford/Pied cross feeder that was yet to be cut, resulting in this mutt of a black cow. No hate here though, as when crossed back to Pied bulls she can produce very nice, growthy, fawny colored Piedmontese calves.

Out of Harley's very first cow "Tiger" who produced calves until she was 15 years old. This Hereford is just 25% Piedmontese and held in high regard around here.. Always on the top end of our weaning weights and proven herself to be very fertile. When I imagine the perfect udder I think of this cow. We love what she does, and icing on the cake she likes producing some nice heifers!

No. I did not name a cow after myself! This 2020 born Hereford was named by her breeder, my sister-in-law. Only coincidence I started dating her brother in 2022 :) This BIG framed momma is new to our herd in 2026 and fits right in. She is a paternal sibling to our highly productive Hereford cow, T-21.

A tad aloof in personality, but is always quietly watching and very easy to work with. Has been the designated "Herd Baby Sitter" since she was a yearling. She's beautiful and knows it. Great feet. Nice udder. Good frame size. Fantastic Dam. Hopeful to retain daughters out of her down the road.

A nice example of the consistency our herd matriarch, "Number One", can produce. Feminine, moderate, but growthy females that are fertile, good footed, and go on to be pretty darn good producers themselves. Generational teat/udder improvement. Puts pounds on calves. Aubrey is in our Fall Herd.

As wide as she is tall and proof we see quality in every color! This is the last female we got out of Harley's very first cow, "Tiger". a lot like her dam, she's "pet friendly" and a bit of a nuisance, BUT easily has one of the nicest udders on the farm. (Probably second only to her older sister) becoming known for calving quickly and with little warning! Raises nice calves. In our Fall Herd. She'd be a good one to start a polled Piedmontese herd with.

Need an updated picture of this one. I'd copy and paste this heifer's demeanor on every animal I owned if I could! Her sire, Arrowmaker Shiner, was a leaner-built bull from the early 90's. Sylvie got his frame size and is an 1,100lb first calf-heifer raising a nice little bull calf. We're excited to bring these old genetics back to life and think she will cross well on bigger boned bulls.

Very feminine and moderately framed heifer. She's got some fancy genetics behind her, with a blend of the VERY growthy BNR Thanos 1G on top and her maternal side sports 3 generations of rock-solid HNH cows. Will be bred fall of 2026.

Good mined, feminine heifer. Wasn't originally in the keeper pen but my husband likes her and good natured females get a second look around here. Nothing terribly fancy about this one but she has thick-made legs and great feet. In 2024 we didn't yet own a bull and AIing cows at pasture 30 minutes from home ain't easy, so we rented the in-laws Hereford. She has a personality like her dam, who we love. Our crossbred cows seem to do really well for us so we have we'll give her a try.

We pulled this one out of the father-in-laws feeder pen and are giving her a chance! If she comes up bred after 40 days with the bull we'll keep her around. DNA pending sire, but should be correct according to dam's A.I bred/calving date. Her dam is a moderate framed 1 copy cross with a beautiful udder and sound feet & legs. This heifer has a fantastic disposition and the body type we are after,
